This Privacy Policy applies to the Food Snapper AI mobile application and describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using Food Snapper AI, you agree to the terms described here. This policy is designed to comply with relevant Google Play policies, including Health Connect requirements, and any applicable local laws and regulations.
1. Information We Collect
- Personal Data: We may collect information you provide (e.g., age, gender, height, weight) to personalize nutritional or fitness analysis.
- Photos of Food: You can upload photos of your meals, which are stored on secure servers. These images are encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Health Connect Data (with your permission): If you grant explicit permission, we may request access to specific Health Connect data, such as exercise sessions, total calories burned, daily step count, and body metrics (height and weight), to display your workout information, activity, and body metrics alongside nutritional data within the app.
- Body Metrics You Enter: If you manually add or edit your height or weight in the app, we store those entries in your account and, only if you enable sync, write them to Health Connect.
2. Approved Use Case for Health Connect
Food Snapper AI is a fitness and wellness application. Our features help users view their exercise information, step counts, and basic body metrics (height and weight) alongside nutritional data in one place. We follow Google’s guidelines and only request Health Connect permissions related to our approved use case: fitness and wellness.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Nutritional & Fitness Analysis: Analyze meal photos to estimate nutritional values (calories, protein, carbs, fats) and combine them with activity data (if provided) for comprehensive insights.
- Display Exercise & Step Data: Read specific data from Health Connect (e.g., exercise sessions, calories burned, daily step count) within a selected timeframe so that you can monitor your workouts and daily activity.
- Body Metrics & Sync (Opt-In): Read your height and weight (via Health Connect) to personalize your experience (e.g., calorie estimates, BMI) and show trends. If you enable sync, we may write height/weight entries that you add or edit in the app back to Health Connect to keep your records consistent across apps.
- Feed Sharing (With Consent): We offer a voluntary feature where you can share your meal photos and associated nutritional information (including calorie count and macronutrient data) on our public feed, along with your gender and country. This occurs only if you explicitly consent. You may withdraw consent at any time, and your information will be removed from the feed as soon as technically feasible.
- Service Improvement: Maintain and improve our services, including troubleshooting and data analytics. We only use the minimum amount of data required to achieve these functions.
4. Health Connect Data Handling

Data Scope Limitation: We only request access to Health Connect
permissions essential for our fitness and wellness features:
READ_EXERCISE,READ_TOTAL_CALORIES_BURNED,READ_STEPS,READ_HEIGHT,READ_WEIGHT,WRITE_HEIGHT, andWRITE_WEIGHT. For steps, we use the daily step count only (we do not use cadence or other unused fields). For height/weight, we access the value and timestamp needed to display and sync your body metrics. - Write Behavior (Explicit Opt-In): We write only height and weight entries, and only when you enable sync and take an action that creates/edits those entries in the app. We do not write exercise, calories, or steps to Health Connect.
- Minimal Data Access: We read only what’s necessary to display your exercise duration, calories burned, step count, height, and weight for the period you select.
- No Unauthorized Sharing or Selling: We never sell or share Health Connect data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party without explicit user consent (and only as permitted by law).
- User Control & Consent: You control Health Connect permissions, including separate read and write permissions for height/weight, in your device settings. If you revoke permissions, we will no longer access or write Health Connect data.
- Data Storage: In most cases, Health Connect data is accessed and displayed on-device. If any such data is stored on our servers (e.g., you explicitly sync it with your account), it is protected by encryption and handled under the same retention and deletion policies as other personal data.
- Compliance with Health Regulations: We comply with Google’s Health Connect policies and any applicable local laws or regulations (e.g., GDPR; HIPAA if relevant). We do not process Health Connect data for medical diagnoses or in ways that require regulatory approvals unless we have obtained such approvals where necessary.

5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account,
all associated data (including photos) is removed from our servers unless certain
information must be retained to comply with legal obligations.
Any stored Health Connect data on our servers is also deleted or anonymized upon account deletion.
Feed Consent Withdrawal: If you withdraw consent for feed sharing,
your shared photos and related information (e.g., calorie and macronutrient data, gender, country)
will be removed from the public feed as soon as it is technically feasible to do so.
Data Written to Health Connect: Entries already written to Health Connect
reside in your device’s Health Connect store. Deleting your app account does not remove
data from Health Connect. You can manage or delete those entries directly in Health Connect.
6. Security Measures
We use industry-standard security measures such as encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest to protect your data. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted within the app or on our website (if applicable). Your continued use of Food Snapper AI after any posted changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Food Snapper AI (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
Food Snapper AI is a fitness and wellness application that uses AI to analyze meal photos and provides estimated nutritional information (calories, protein, carbohydrates, fats). With your consent, it can also access exercise-related data and daily step counts via Health Connect (e.g., workout sessions, calories burned, step count) so you can view that information within the app.
3. User Accounts
- Registration: You may need to create an account to access all features. Provide accurate and up-to-date information.
- Responsibility: You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activities under your account.
- All Ages: This Service is available to users of all ages. However, if you are a minor under the laws of your jurisdiction, you should use the Service under the supervision of a parent or guardian where required by local regulations.
4. Disclaimer (Not Medical Advice)
All nutritional and fitness information provided is for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional regarding diet, fitness, or other health-related concerns.
5. Prohibited Conduct
- Uploading content that is illegal or infringes on any third-party rights.
- Reverse-engineering or attempting to gain unauthorized access to the Service.
- Using the Service in any manner that disrupts its functioning or security.
- Collecting or using Health Connect data for any purposes other than those explicitly authorized by the user and outlined in our Privacy Policy.
6. Feed Sharing Feature
- Voluntary Participation: Our feed feature allows you to share your food photos, calorie and macronutrient data, gender, and country with other users. This feature is strictly optional and requires your explicit consent.
- Consent & Withdrawal: You can enable or disable feed sharing at any time in your account settings. If you disable or withdraw consent, any existing shared content will be removed from the feed promptly.
- Shared Information: Only the information you provide consent to share (e.g., images, calories, protein/carbs/fat grams, gender, country) will appear on the feed. Other data, including Health Connect data, is not shared unless explicitly authorized.
- User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for the content you share. Ensure it does not violate any third-party rights or our Prohibited Conduct policies.
- Data Removal: Once consent is withdrawn, your data should no longer appear on the feed. However, please note that cached or archived copies may persist temporarily until fully purged.
7. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately.
8. Limitation of Liability
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use Food Snapper AI.
9. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated within the Service or via email. Continuing to use Food Snapper AI after such changes means you accept the new Terms.
